Caged Predators one takes place on a packed weekend of MMA this Saturday, taking place live from Audley Sports in Blackburn, with a cracking looking card.
Aiming for the 66kg championship on the night is Manchester Predators Ben Knight, who takes on Jed Nuttall in a very exciting match up.
Ben has been active this year so far and has developed through each of those match up’s and with the guidance of Gavin Boardman at Predators, he has a bright future ahead of him.
With Caged Predators now just three days away, Ben took some time out to answer some questions ahead of the event.
Thanks for your time Ben, I wanted to start by looking back on the last time I saw you compete which was FCC 8, when you defeated Adam Ashworth with a first round standing guillotine. Having had chance to look back on that match up, would you say that was a perfect performance by yourself?
“I wouldn’t say perfect, the fight was over very quickly which I was happy with but still made a few mistakes”.
How did you find competing on the FCC card?
“It was really good competing on FCC, a very professional organisation”.
Have you had the chance to compete since then and how much would you say you have come on since that fight?
“Ye I fought on the last Lockdown which I suffered a loss against a good opponent , I feel I have come on as a fighter which every fighter should every fight, as we will always find something to work on”.
Next up you get the chance to compete for the Caged Predators championship on the first show. How much would it mean to you to take home the belt and be the first holder of the promotions belt?
“Ye obviously it would be nice to take the belt something for my daughter to be proud of, but most of all it’s about the experience for me still being amateur. I’m going there to fight and gain experience”.
Your opponent is Jed Nuttall who is 1-0 as an amateur, after making his debut at Rage in the Cage earlier this year. Have you had chance to watch that fight and what are you expecting from Jed?
“I have seen the fight, he did well and I’m looking forward to a good fight between us”.
What do you think is going to be the key to victory in this fight?
“I don’t think there is a key, anything can happen on the day, all you can do is work hard and know you have put the effort in leading up to the fight”.
For anyone who hasnt seen you compete before, what can they expect from you on the night?
“A good fight”.
Are you hoping to have a lot of support on the night and how much does it mean to you to have that backing?
“Ye I’m hoping the usual mob come down and support and means a lot obviously to have people supporting you”.
You train with one hell of an awesome team in Manchester Predators. Whats it like being able to learn from everybody there?
“Exactly what you said awesome, everyone I train with are beasts and upcoming prospects , and obviously teaching us all and creating these beasts is the ninja Jedi sensei Gavin boardman, I couldn’t ask for more”.
And finally, is there anybody you would like to thank/give a shout out to?
“Like to thanks all my team mates too risky to mention and miss anyone out; Will Burke , Kyle Darbyshire , Mark Skeer and most importantly Gavin Boardman”
