Today has seen the addition of two exciting match up’s to the ICE FC 4 card, which takes place on Saturday November 8th 2014 at the Irlam leisure centre.
Firstly announced is a match up for the vacant amateur Featherweight championship match up between Luke Crossland and Daryl Golding.
Crossland trains out of HAMMA, in St Helens, and comes into this match up on the back of a very dominating performance at FightStar Championship 4 in May when he defeated Jason Jacques via first round Submission (armbar).
That came on the back of Crossland’s involvement in one of the amateur fights of 2014 when he took on Adam Bramhald for the ACB Bantamweight Championship in February, at ACB 9. It was a back and forth fight with both competitors looking strong and showing they are two of the most talented fighters in the UK. In the end it was Bramhald who took the unanimous decision victory, but Crossland came out taking so much from the match up.
He will be ready for this championship fight and is a dangerous opponent for any featherweight, no matter where the fight goes.
His opponent on the night is Daryl Golding, who will not be an easy match up and if any of these guys want to take home the belt, they have got to be ready for a five round war.
Golding trains out of Blackledge MMA and his last match up came at FCC 10 in June, when he got a shot at Ashley Reece’s lightweight championship. Unfortunately for Golding Reece retained his title with a fourth round TKO, but after taking on one of the countries most dangerous lightweights, he will be more than ready for this shot.
Never involved in a boring fight, Golding is known for taking home fight of the night honors when he is fighting on a card and in September 2013 at FCC 7 he took home those honors when he defeated Aaron McDonnell via unanimous decision.
Golding showed an all round skill set and was dominating on the feet, in the wrestling and the grappling, so wherever this fight takes place he will feel comfortable.
ICE have announced this one as worth the admission alone and a truer word has never been spoken and we can expect the roof to go off the Irlam leisure centre when these two featherweights meet.
The second match up announced is an amateur c class one which will see Mitchell Arkinstall and Joe Champion showcase their skills.
I have been luckily enough to see Champion compete twice, with the more recent one coming at ACB 8 in November 2013 when he opened the show in a closely fought contest with HAMMA’s Owen Martin. It was Martin who took the split decision on the night, but it really could have gone either way with Champion looking confident in all aspects of the fight, in particular his kicks.
He will have been continually developing since his last outing and with a fine team in Pure Warrior, he will come into this one with his previous behind him and all the confidence in his abilities.
His opponent Mitchell Arkinstall trains out of Lions Paw MMA and will also be looking to showcase his skills and experience competing in front of an audience. Not much is known on Arkinstall but training out Lions Paw he will be coached by two of Europe’s most experienced competitors in Andy De-Vent and Ali Arish. With that wealth of knowledge behind him, he will be developing each day and will be one to watch out for on the night.
Both Arkinstall and Champion have a bright future in the sport and it is always good to see them continually development and fans will be treated to a very good match up here.
